Dr Odze is currently professor of pathology and consultant pathologist at Tufts medical center and medical school, and president of Dr Robert Odze Pathology LLC, a medical/pathology consulting company (odzepathology.com). Dr Odze has a long history of research in GI diseases, most notably in the science related to cancer development in chronic inflammatory diseases such as Barrett’s esophagus and IBD. In this capacity, Dr Odze has published more than 450 articles, including original research, reviews, book chapter and books. He is editor of the largest and most comprehensive textbook of GI pathology worldwide, titled “Surgical pathology of the GI tract, Liver, Biliary tract, and Pancreas”, which is currently in its 4th edition (released Nov 2022) and is also editor of several major pathology and clinical journals. Dr Odze has a long history of education and teaching, and has given more than 300 lectures over the course of his career.

Professor Neil Shepherd is Professor of Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology at Gloucestershire Cellular Pathology Laboratory, based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, UK. He is a specialised GI pathologist and has, and has had, wide-ranging involvement in national and international GI pathological education, training, research, audit, publishing and service provision. He has given more than 150 invited lectures at national & international symposia on GI pathology. He is Editor of Morson & Dawson’s Gastrointestinal Pathology, the flagship UK textbook of GI pathology and Associate Editor for GI pathology for Histopathology, the leading UK journal for Cellular Pathology. He has written seven other books, 40 chapters & more than 200 original articles & reviews. He is a past President, former General Secretary and current Councillor of the British Division of the International Academy of Pathology.

Dr Daniela Allende serves as Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs for the Pathology Department at Cleveland Clinic. She previously spent almost 10 year as GI/HPB subspecialty director at the same institution. She has published over 90 peer reviewed articles, over 100 abstract presented at international meetings, several book chapters and co-edited the book “Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology: Foundations in Diagnostic Pathology”. She is highly involved in mentoring and education within Cleveland Clinic, at national and international levels, acting as course director and speaker. He contributes widely to practice guidelines and service improvement initiatives and holds many leadership roles in national and international organisations.

Institute of Liver Studies, King’s College Hospital, London, UK

Professor Yoh Zen is a Consultant Histopathologist at Institute of Liver Studies, King’s College Hospital, contributing to the diagnostic work of complex liver and pancreatobiliary diseases at the tertiary referral centre. He is also an international expert of IgG4-related disease. Alongside busy clinical work, he has engaged in scientific researches, and published 350 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 33 chapters and 3 books, including review articles in the New England Journal of Medicine and the Lancet, MacSween’s Pathology of the Liver, WHO Classification of Digestive System Tumours and AFIP fascicle of Liver Tumours.

Professor John Hart

University of Chicago Department of Pathology, Chicago, USA

Dr John Hart graduated from the University of Iowa Medical School in 1986. He did his pathology residency at U.C.L.A. Medical Center, followed by a Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Pathology fellowship at the same institution. In 1991 he joined the faculty of the University of Chicago Department of Pathology as an assistant professor. In 2004 he rose to the rank of full professor, and in 2023 assumed the role of  Vice Chair for Anatomic Pathology. He is the director of the GI and Hepatic Pathology fellowship program, which has graduated more than 25 pathologists who are now working in leading academic pathology departments throughout the United States and Canada. Dr Hart has published more than 200 articles in the fields of gastrointestinal and hepatic pathology and has also authored numerous book chapters. He is a member of the USCAP Board of Directors and currently serves as President of the organization. He is also a past president of the Rodger Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society.

Dr Volkan Adsay

Koc University,Turkey

Dr Volkan Adsay, Chair of Surgical Sciences and Chair of Pathology at Koc University, is an internationally-recognized pathologist in the field of gastrointestinal and pancreatobiliary cancers. He has published over 330 articles, authored several chapters in the WHO’s “classification of tumors” series. He was instrumental in the pathologic characterization of various tumor types and was also the member of an international group that put forth the definition and criteria for the early cancerous lesions of these organs and prognostication of their tumors. He served as President for the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, as well as the first President of Pancreatobiliary Pathology Society (PBPS) in addition to committee membership in several major organizations. He has given over 330 international lectures and courses, and served in the editorial board of 8 medical journals. He is also the recipient of multiple teaching and science awards including AACR team science award.

Professor Fátima Carneiro

Fátima Carneiro is Professor of Pathology (Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto), Head of the Service of Anatomic Pathology (Centro Hospitalar Universitário São João) and Senior Researcher at Ipatimup/i3S. She was President of the European Society of Pathology (2011-2013) and President of the Portuguese Academy of Medicine (2018-2020). She was awarded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology “for an outstanding curriculum vitae” (2005) and received the Order of “Infante D. Henrique” (Grand Officer) awarded by the President of Republic “for outstanding services to science” (2006). She was nominated as “The most influential pathologist in the world” in 2018 (by “The Pathologist”). She is (co)author of more than 400 peer-reviewed publications (h index: 78) and 26 book chapters, including books issued by the IARC and the UICC. She was co-editor of the WHO Blue Book on “Tumours of the Digestive System” (4th edition) and standing member of the Editorial Board of the WHO Classification of Tumours series (5th edition) (2018–2020). Her research is focused on the etiopathogenesis and molecular pathology of gastric cancer.

Maurice is a Consultant Gl Pathologist at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast and affiliated to Queen’s University Belfast. His primary interests are in colorectal cancer, screening and precursor polyps. He is lead author of the Royal College of Pathologists and ICCR datasets and guidelines for reporting colorectal cancer and associate GI editor of the journal Histopathology.

Dr Namrata Setia

Namrata Setia, MD, is an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Chicago. She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Her areas of clinical focus and expertise are gastrointestinal pathology, particularly gastric non-neoplastic and neoplastic diseases, and molecular pathology. She has published 85 peer-reviewed articles, editorials, reviews, and book chapters. She currently serves as a member of the USCAP Stowell-Orbison Awards Committee, Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society Case of the Month Committee, and the ASCP CheckPath Committee. Dr. Setia is especially interested in the translation application of molecular techniques to inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver.
